Objective Europe Online has been founded by various private and public firms, in order to set up a Europe-wide consumer orientated and PC-based online service. Among Europe Online's partners are leading global providers of information and media services, thus positioning Europe Online to capitalise on the world-wide convergence of the telecommunications, computer and TV industries. With this being the background for further future developments and corporations with a large number of content providers, as well as user groups, Europe Online has defined a first project to enhance the developments of online news and information services, based on the publications and available information of several European publishers and one financial institution. The project will focus on developing, in parallel, the interfaces and translation programmes between the respective partners' in-house publishing tools and Europe Online's system platform; at the same time it will develop specific editorial reformatting of the available information in order to address the specific need of the European small business user in general.
