Volume Stabilised Chiral Liquid Crystal for Displays Applications

Cel

The goal of the project is a prototype technology for manufacturing flat, low power, high information content, volume stabilised ferroelectric liquid crystal displays (VSCLCD). These will have inherent memory properties and dynamics compatible with the requirements for HDTV applications. This new VSFLCD technology should be significantly cheaper than the presently used technology for active matrix LCDs.

The proposed R&D project will provide new evidence important for understanding the composite materials obtained by dispersions of polymers and liquid crystals especially with higher smectic molecular ordering.
