Cel The aim of the project is to establish and disseminate that an innovatory tunnel kiln improves the operating efficiency of brick manufacturers by reducing the losses inherent in the design of the conventional kilns.By other hand, the energy consumption required for brick making is strongly reduced.The laboratory tests carried out by the principal manufacturer of the equipment (AGEMAC) clearly shows that the specific energy consumption of the new tunnel kiln is less than 1.3 GJ by ton of brick.The recommended temperature for the cooking process is between 900 deg. C and 950 deg. The payback time is less than 5 years.The kiln is a rectillinear tunnel with 70,9 meters of lenght and 4 meters of width and it is equipped with 75 wagonettes with a daily capacity of 180 tons of production.The loading and unloading systems of the tunnel kiln are complete]y mechanized and automatized and the kiln is equipped with computer systems which allows a central control of the total production, the energy consumptions, etc. They will be also produced bricks with more lenght than the actually produced, which means less unions, with all the advantages of civil construction that can be taken from that.
