1 1 MW WIND TURBINE IN FRIESLAND

Objetivo

The realization of a 1.1 MW wind turbine, in order to gain experience with the construction of such size wind turbines and thus achieve lower costs of the electricity produced.
The NEDWIND 50 wind turbine is expected to demonstrate increased efficiency with an annual yield of 2670 MWH.

The NEDWIND 50 wind turbine is a 1.1 MW machine with a diameter of 53 metres, 40 m tower and will be manufactured by NEDWIND.
The main characteristics of the wind turbine are: horizontal axis, 2 bladed, upwind, stall control with active blade tips (and tip adjustements towards feathering position) and towards stall, passive yawing, variable rpm, 6 synchronous generators (4 of 250 KW and 2 of 175 KW each), planetary gearbox with four fast running axes, AC-DC-AC electrical system, nominal power 1,1 MW, maximum power 1,3 MW, operational wind speeds 6-20 m/s.
The wind turbine will be installed in a rural area and the estimated annual yield is 2,67 GWH at an estimated cost of 0,221 HFL/KWH. At present the payback time is high but is expected to come down to about 10 years when the machine will be constructed in series.
