Obiettivo The aim of the project is the qualification on a long term basis of state of the art electrical, mechanical and hydraulic components including subsea hydraulic power unit and control modules. The overall system is designed for full ROV handling, installation and retrieval.Land tests and shallow water tests completed. Six months long term tests completed, corresponding to 5 years continuous operations. The replacement of complete control umbilicals by a simple two wires electrical cable by use of a subsea hydraulic power unit, and the replacement of the conventional control pod by several modules called TOV is more flexibility, reliability and ease of intervention. The commercial and to some degree also technical limitation for the distance between satellite fields and existing structures is the hydraulical power supply which is used today. The elimination of the umbilical to provide the hydraulic power supply and its replacement by this system should speed up the signal response times considerably from the platform to the tree actuators and should make the link between topsides and susbea more effective, thereby creating a more efficient and safer operating system. Moreover the replacement of the pod by very light modules (30 kg) will allow intervention by ROV down to very deep sea.The system shall lower the overall costs and by this allow commercial tie-backs of marginal fields into existing infrastructures to increase the oil production on that infrastructure with unchanged operational expenditures. It will also make easier the development of deeper fields.Maintenance costs and the necessity for either ROV or diver interventions should also be reduced. Replacing the complex electro-hydraulic umbilical by a single cable cuts the cost for that part by 90%. That means that today's average distance of 7,5 kilometres can be increased, and more satellite fields can be tied back. The increased reliability of TOV modules, compared to the pod, together with easier handling and maintainability will also reduce the operational expenditures on the field. The monitoring phase was intended to verify the design under all relevant operational conditions (installation subsea, setting into operation, normal and contingency operation, maintenance, removal). The experience gained will directly create a basis for full size system production.
