Objectif The HOCAPRIT project aims to demonstrate the successful transformation of medical care services by re-engineering a specific hospital medical care process integrating advanced Information Technologies.Hocaprit is a pilot project in the area of Business Process Reengineering (BPR) which will study and provide results to determine business best practice in a hospital process context. The reduction of health-care resources of regional and national governments and the increase of social demand makes the search of "revolutionary" cost-effective and quality solutions urgent in the area of hospital medical care process. Although some studies have been performed on building up re-engineered models for global health care assistance, Hocaprit is focused on specific services of a hospital to demonstrate the validity of BPR techniques integrating Information Technologies for the hospital medical care process.Hocaprit will analyse the general framework in the Hospital Care Assistance, will identify their processes and will define a set of models for re-engineering them taking into account the possibilities offered by the advance IT systems and its applications. First of all, a series of tailored workshops will be run to get those involved in the projet, familiar with BPR approaches. This phase has the objective of defining a general framework for future BPR projects in the area. The general analysis will be the base for re-engineering a selected process in an specific Hospital (criteria of most susceptible to successful redesign will be used for selecting the process). A full plan for implementing and validating the re-engineered process will be defined taking into account the business goals to be achieved, the application and integration of IT systems and the human resources. The main outputs of the project will be a set of models for hospital health care processes re-engineering, an Implementation Plan of the medical care assistance services in a hospital and the dissemination material of the results. These results will be disseminated through public technical papers sent to the Business Best Practice Networks and by participating in seminars and conferences.
