Objective To provide an assessment of energy use in commutity buildings.To introduce measures to significantly reduce consumption and CO2 emmissions.to provide a strategic assessment of the potential funding for energy efficiency, including an investigation of third party financing.To assess potential indirect benefit in the domestic sector, through ineveased awareness.This project has 7 phases:1. Energy survey:Over 1000 surveys were distributed throughout the voluntary and community sector. From the replies, 100 buildings were selected for auditing and training. The main determinants were energy consumption and geographical location.2. Energy Auditing:100 buildings have been audited and a comprehensive energy saving plan for each building produced3. Energy awareness training:Training courses in Energy Saving in Community buildings have also been organized. Training to city and guilds levels is also to be offered.4. Small Implementation Programme:A further element of the programme is the provision of grants to assist in the installation of basic energy efficiency measures.5. Investigature report into financing mechanisms:A report has been produced outline funding sources for energy efficiency programmes in community buildings. This report includes an assessment of the potential for third party financing.6. Manual - Energy use in community buildings:Production of a guidebook for energy efficiency strategies in community buildings. To be made available to voluntary and community groups.7. Indirect benefits assessment:Monitoring of the programme, including an assessment of relevant benefits to the domestic sector.
