Analysis of measures to save energy in small businesses and firms in France and Germany

Objective

The study aims at the determination of energy-saving measures for small businesses and firms. Thus the reduction of energy related expenses to increase the competitiveness of the companies is one of the main targets.
The study aims at helping the companies to meet ecological, economic and regulatory requirements by improving their processes and working methods.

Within the framework of a French-German collaboration transferable solutions will be developed.
There are three target groups for the dissemination of results:
- Consumers (energy-intensive small businesses and firms)
- Energy Consultants
- Political decision-makers
Consumers will be reached by an Energy Information Brochure which contains the description of cost-effective measures to reduce energy consumption. The Brochure is designed to encourage consumers to adopt proven measures.
Thus guidelines will be developed to support energy consultants: An Energy Guidelines Booklet describes specific energy ratios and standardized energy balances for selected consumers. Consultants are able to figure out weak-points by comparing standard values with single firm data.
Political decision-makers use the results of the study for initiating energy conservation programmes. The study yields subsectors and measures where public support has the most benefit.
