REALIZATION OF A 350 KW WIND POWER PLANT WITH INNOVATIVE MEDIUM-SIZE WEC NAMED M30S2

Obiettivo

The aim of this project is to design, install and operate a wind farm at Monte Secchieta, municipality of Montemignaio (AR) located on the Appenine Mountains at 1450 m above the sea level. The new M30S2 wind turine will be installed in the same area with further 4 wind turbines of Riva Calzoni. The main purpose of the project is to acquire experience about the following aspects
- to acquire scientific data concerning the structural, mechanical and electrical behaviour of the wind turbine.
- to verify the operational characteristics of the new 350 kW M30S2 single-bladed wind turbine with particular emphasis on the annual energy yield.
- to verify the economical competitiveness of the wind turbine
- to acquire all the technical and economical data for the industrial series production to face the international market..

The aim of the project is to design, manufacture, install and operate the new M30S2 wind turbine at Monte Secchieta, located on the Appenine Mountains at 1450 m above the sea level.
The main innovations within the project are related to the wind turbine and the intended site of installation, and are more precisely: - new rotor design
- new energy conversion system
- tower design simplification
- installation on high mountains inside a Regional Pre-Reserve.
The programme for the realization of the project is divided into five phases:
Phase 1 : design; It includes the plant design activities in all their executive details, the executive design of all the civil and electric works.
Phase 2 : manufacturing; In this phase is foreseen the construction of the M30S2 wind turbines in the workshops of Riva Wind Turbines s.r.l. which is part of the Riva Calzoni Group.
Phase 3 : assembly, installation and erection; In this phase the wind turbines are shipped, assembled on site and erected complete with the electrical connections.
Phase 4 : commissioning; The foreseen activity is the strat-up of the wind turbine and of the whole plant. This activity requires the final connection to the electrical network.
Phase 5 : monitoring; By means of a 24 months operation experience the wind turbine behaviour and performance will be verified. the parameters of evaluation will be energy yield, reliability and maintenance.
