Cars to public transport in the urban environment

Objetivo

Assess and recommend policy instruments and strategies using physical measures designed to encourage travellers to use public transport, cycling and walking as opposed to private motoring in EU urban areas in order to better meet European policy goals (transport, economy, social cohesion, environment and energy).

1- Provide information to urban transport decision makers in Europe on the most appropriate transport strategies to adopt using physical measures to achieve their local policy objectives and their likely impacts, where possible with quantitative evidence.
2- Provide active decision support taking account of local conditions and European policy goals.
3- Develop and test policy strategies related to physical measures in demonstration sites, singly or in integration, to better encourage a shift from private motoring to public transport, cycling and walking.
4- Develop common quantitative and qualitative tools and databases to ascertain the transferability of results between the demonstration sites and other urban areas.
