Objetivo The objective of the 4MIDABLE project is to specify the requirements for the meteorological aspects of operational prediction of future aircraft position in four dimensions. Both the short term prediction (20 minutes ahead) and the longer term (including air traffic flow management issues) will be addressed. In the former wind is the prime issue with effects of anti-icing as a secondary issue. In the latter fog and severe convective clouds (commonly, but not exclusively, cumulonimbus) are major considerations. In addition other hazardous meteorological phenomena have to be addressed.
