Objectif

This project aims at registration, documentation and interpretation of different basic data concerning the demographic, social and economic development and the present situation in the NIS, above all in the Russian Federation. Regional discrepancies in the distribution and supply of human resources will be studied under the focus of a social and economic geographic approach. Data will be processed in a series of comparable maps which will be the basis of a computerised atlas accompanied by interpretations.

The objective of this project consists in a clear and obvious presentation of all materials and in a standardised procedure for further handling of regional data concerning socio-economic topics on different regional levels. A second level of investigation and development will evolve a geographical information system which will be able to fulfil the tasks of regular political and socio-economic monitoring. Such a system would be rather important in the preparatory stage of political and economic decision-making.
