Information theory and combinatorics

Objectif

Increase complexity of data communication and information technology results in many cases in communication time, often far longer than the computer time. It is to be expected that without research for new technologies and methods, the problem of broadcasting data will strongly increase in the near future. Another problem will be security and identification of all kind of information to be transferred by wireless communication.

The main purpose of the project is to carry out fundamental research in the area of information theory and combinatorics. Specifically the development of cryptographic systems for identification, the construction of networks for broadcasting under robust conditions, the development of new codes for write-efficient memories and data compression will be the subject of the project.

The expected results of this project can be summarised as: the analysis and engineering of existing and new communication systems and to discover basic mathematics in particular in combinatorial principles; and the use of classic combinatorial systems to up-dating coding and identification systems for future communication and data transmission.
