Objective The main goal of the International Congress of Mathematicians, held now for over a hundred years, is the exchange of information and the opportunity for new personal contacts among mathematicians worldwide. The Congress takes place every four years and is considered one of the most important congresses and workshops in the world. Participation by scientists from NIS countries now allows them not only to hear about recent developments in mathematics but also contribute actively to workshops and establish new contacts with their Western colleagues. The next Congress will be held in Zürich, Switzerland, with 2500 ordinary participants from 87 different countries. At the opening ceremony, the Fields Medal will be awarded to four scientists, including a Russian scientist. There will be 16 plenary and 148 section lectures about recent developments in all fields of mathematics, and poster sessions with some 1000 participants. The organizing committee of the Congress has received 700 applications from scientists working in NIS countries. Expert panels will select the NIS participants to be supported by the Congress. Intas will give a financial contribution to support this Congress.
