Objective The NIS countries are faced with two enormous tasks: their policies and economies must be fundamentally restructured, including the whole enterprise structure in terms of technology, organization and management, and the economics and management professions, and business law too, must be reformed with training in the latest theoretical and empirical developments. The project aims at the development of a scientific base for applying relevant economic concepts to the organization and management of enterprises in the transition circumstances of the NIS. It includes three activities: screening the existing knowledge and transmitting it to a group of selected and qualified scientists of the NIS; enlarging that knowledge base through co-operative research; and testing the results through and application to the planned business development of selected enterprises in the NIS.
