Advanced configuration management system

Objectif

In European industry especially in the automotive and aerospace sector there is a strong need to improve overall capabilities in Product Configuration Management (PCM). In this context ADCOMS has the specific goal to demonstrate that it is possible 'to develop an environment' to control product information generated by all company entities involved in the development and product support processes, managed via computer based applications.

ADCOMS aims at defining, developing and implementing a generic business process model, a pilot demonstrator, a certification process and a set of rules and procedures that will constitute the backbone elements and policies by which new concepts, criteria and methodologies can be validated in order to obtain significant enhancements in PCM for the complete life cycle of a product. The certification process will be carried out by replicating the ADCOMS demonstrator in each partner company in order to validate the envisaged results. The approach will specifically take into account the results of AIT (EP7704).

The results are expected to be able to demonstrate the functionality of the system and the specific requirements for the implementation and integration of this system in an industrial setting. The industrial partners will validate these results and will identify potential changes to be introduced to adopt this new business process model as well as training requirements for the users.
