New Jobs and the Quality of Life

Objective

Recent studies on the development of the labour market and the development of new occupations indicate that there will be significant changes over the next twenty years. Both goods and services will have to respond to the growing demand for a better quality of life by European citizens. The main idea underpinning this project is the need to create a European network of documentation centres to provide information and guidance to young people and adults who are seeking employment in sectors concerned with the environment and the quality of life. The service would also provide support to vocational guidance officers, teachers, tutors and training experts.

The project will take place in three phases. During the first phase, the partners will establish an information service to coordinate the transfer of data between national and international centres working in the fields of waste treatment, anti-pollution, materials technology, architecture, town-planning, agriculture, tourism, leisure and wildlife conservation. The second phase will be devoted to the creation of a vocational guidance office for young people and the unemployed. During the third phase, the partners will organise short courses for the managers and coordinators of these centres. A summary publication about the results of the project will be produced in French, Italian and German.

Impact
The project will facilitate the access of young people and the unemployed to relevant vocational guidance in the environment and quality of life sectors.
