This project is concerned with the current debate surrounding dual-qualification training courses. The aim is to improve opportunities on the labour market and enhance occupational careers by combining general and vocational education in the vocational training process for the construction industry in the partner countries. Approaches and methods for integrating general and vocational education are to be developed and tested within the context of a dual qualification. The dual qualification is not primarily intended for the taking-up of higher education studies following initial vocational training but, rather, to make personnel available for lower and middle management (worker managers).

Methods of teaching and learning in relation to combining working and learning as well as general and vocational education will be analysed in the partner countries and concentrated in a systematic methodology. The partners will, on the basis of this systematic methodology, develop a manual that can be used in their countries for lower and middle management in the construction sector. This manual will serve to improve communication within the target group. It will combine general and vocational education and be used in CVT for SMEs (and will be suitable for self-learning purposes). The results of the project will be presented to representatives of the construction industry, building trade and trade unions at conferences, with the objective of setting up a network and creating working bases between those involved. (Framework) agreements will be drawn up between the various institutions regarding reciprocal recognition of qualifications, thus helping to improve the mobility of workers.

Impact
The special feature of this project lies in combining practical qualifications with management skills, which is important for lower and middle management levels in companies.
