Objectif Teachers at vocational colleges in Europe experience an increasing need to be able to communicate internationally in connection with their work. Communicative competence in a foreign language, which was earlier a relatively peripheral skill, is now becoming a central and integrated part of professional qualifications. Teachers need proficiency in English as a lingua franca as well as a degree of competence in other less widespread languages. The primary goal of the project is to develop a model and material for further education of vocational teachers in Europe.The project includes:- an analysis of their impact of internationalisation within the areas of meat trade/catering and graphics at five colleges, three in Denmark, one in Finland and one in Britain - methods include interviews, questionnaires and shadowing;- development of a concept for a model for in-service training of vocational college teachers, including a course concept and pilot material;- implementation of the course concept with teachers at the five colleges;- elaboration of course material in the form of a book and a diskette.ImpactThe project will give vocational college teachers relevant communication and intercultural competences.
