Objective The constant increase in trade across Europe and the globalisation of such exchanges are increasing the need for multilingualism among both employers and employees. The shortcomings of SMEs in this regard is something that is evident in various European countries. It is difficult, in the area of language learning, to design a training course that caters for the needs of companies, staff and potential employees and transform these needs precisely into target skills within the duration of the training course. To help improve this situation, the project partners propose to design a common framework and set of tools (COMPEVAL) to identify language-skill needs, develop training courses and validate the operational skills acquired. The partnership is made up of four training organisations in four EU countries. It involves two countries whose languages are used extensively (UK and France) and two with lesser used languages (Denmark and Sweden). Each training partner has links with a federation or association of SMEs and/or an employee trade-union and these will act as consultants and testers at each stage of system design and as preferential partners for distributing the tool when it is operational. The final product will take the form of a paper document accompanied by a user-guide in English, French, Danish and Swedish. The designers will provide all the training needed for its initial use.ImpactThis product will help overcome SME shortcomings concerning multilingualism by creating a language-skills needs analysis tool, designing training courses and validating the operational skills acquired.Contract number : F/96/1/00018/PI/III.1.a/FPCDomaine : Continuing vocational trainingContents : Language skills Training in SMEs Investment in training by entreprisesProducts : Systems for language audits Group training with tutor Book, manual, guide Public : Managers/ Owners of SMES Workers in companies Unemployed Programme(s) ET-LEONARDO DA VINCI 1 - Action programme for the implementation of a European Community vocational training policy Leonardo da Vinci, 1995-1999 Topic(s) III.1.a - Support for the development of language skills Call for proposal Data not available Funding Scheme CSC - Cost-sharing contracts Coordinator ADAPEP - CENTRE DE COMMUNICATION MULTILINGUE EU contribution No data Address 2 Rue LOLLIETTE 62027 Arras France See on map Total cost No data
