Management training for the aqua-farming industry

Ziel

Although already largely subsidised by the European Union, aqua-farming is experiencing difficulties for a number of reasons: small-scale operations, rearing of fragile living products, internationalisation of markets, etc. The top personnel in this sector need both technical and management expertise and often lack a multi-skilled employee who can take over from them in any situation. The aim of this pilot project is to design and test a transnational training programme for the multi-skilled employee job-profile, aimed at a target group of fifteen people from different EU countries.

The restrictions of the French employment market in this area have led the French promoters to develop a European partnership involving Italy, Greece, Ireland and France. The training programme will include a mobility component to enable members of the target group to familiarise themselves with several European sites. The partners will design a reference guide for the job profile, as well as a training course and evaluation methods.

Impact
This project will provide aqua-farming companies with a better chance of survival through the design of a training programme for management-assistants in this sector. The results of this small-scale project could be transferred to other European countries involved in aqua-farming as well as to Mediterranean countries.
