New packaging for high capacity ice-cream

Objectif

This project addresses a new concept in ice cream high volumes packaging focused on a flexible raw material in order to reduce volume before retreating or recycling. This packaging will allow to the consumer a better facility in usage and wasting. The raw material to be used will be polypropylene instead of polystyrene or cardboard materials to make a container lighter, and cheaper by 30%. The market of such products is huge in every country, the year average quantity production overcomes 200 millions boxes for the European countries. The level of recycling taxes upon those packaging products will be reduced drastically by reducing the volume after folding the ice cream box in a smaller space, which ensures reductions in transportation costs and elimination cost due to non conformity to the European and French norms for wasting products at the end of life cycle. This innovation technique will be applied, at first, to our targeted ice cream products and for the next future to other derived food products, packaged in plastic large containers.
Product validation to a wider audience and process developments will need to be undertaken by the industrial SMEs after completion of these 18 months research project which will require a supplementary period of 6 months, prior to manufacture and to plan the following commercial exploitations.
