MULTIPHASE PIPE FLOW MODELLING IN NATURAL GAS AND OIL SYSTEMS

Objectif

The objective of the project was the computer aided prediction of the two-phase frictional pressure drop, as well as of two-phase flow pattern and liquid holdup, of fluid media produced and transported in Natural Gas and Oil Systems.
Validation and reliability of the modelling have been proved by technical and physical results in comparison with data from real design and operating environments. The modelling, along with Transport Properties Estimation System (TPES, Contract TH./10070/89), will integrate to form a significant tool needed for the relative fluid analysis of Hydrocarbons piping systems.
Liquid holdup and pressure drop results have been produced from the MPF codes. These results have also been compared with experimental data for the same test cases.
The project has been performed in the four following stages :
I COMPILATION AND CLASSIFICATION OF METHODS. In this stage modelling methods which analyze two-phase flow in Hydrocarbons (Natural Gas + Oil) piping systems have been compiled and classified.
II. ADAPTATION AND PROGRAMMING AND METHODS AND FORMULAE. Several computer programs and subroutines have been produced as a result of the sudy and coding of the methods selected in the previous stage and these predict all the main transport properties of two-phase multicomponent mixtures of hydrocarbons, as well as two-phase flow-pattern, liquid holdup and pressure drop.
III. TESTING AND INTEGRATION. Two types of testing will be considered :
(1) bottom testing unit and module test and
(2) thread testing
The testing procedures must fulfil quality requirements in certainty of the technical and physical results through tests referred to in the literature and real application cases.
IV. DOCUMENTATION AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT. Deliverables of this stage are Internal Reports documenting technical and scientific progress of the project and EEC Technical and Financial Reporting.
