Parkinsonism and parkinson's disease: interactions between environmental exposures and genetic factors

Objective

Parkinsonism (PD) is a major cause of disability in Europe. Evidence suggests that environmental factors, particularly exposure to commonly used chemicals, acting on susceptible individuals increase the risk of this disease.
