Research to separate out upgrade and recycle contaminants within calcium carbonate used in flue gas decontamination (RESOURCE)

Objective

The overall objective of this project is to ensure that whilst being able to meet current and future legislation, the disposal of contaminants from flue gas cleaning processes will not become hazardous to the environment whilst equally not increasing business operating costs through disposal. This will be achieved by developing the gas cleaning equipment technology in order to ensure that waste material can efficiently be screened, researching new methodologies to separate and upgrade elements in the waste to secondary raw materials and/or alternatively develop new immobilisation techniques for the contaminated waste in order to be recycled into construction products. The programme of work addresses key action 1.3 and targeted research area 4 (TRA 4).
