HTR-C will make the integration of the programs of 5 other proposals HTR-N, HTR-F, HTR-S, HTR-M and HTR-E. The objective is to check that they are consistent and that their results are useful for the industrialisation of HTR. Competitive ness being a key issue for industrialisation, an economic evaluation of HTR is planned. The compared competitiveness and safety aspects of the different configurations of HTR will be evaluated, the key parameters for economic optimisation determined and the economy of HTR fuel cycle analysed, considering the past industrial experience and the results of HTR-F. In order to obtain a good integration of the 5proposals, a strong co-ordination will be organised, with a Steering Committee and the development of data banks and communication tools for sharing the information needed by the European program. A co-operation with other HTR programs in the world, most particularly with Japan and China, will bring complementary results.
The European Project for the Development of HTR Technology includes 5 technical proposals on reactor physics, fuel, system studies, materials, components and systems. The objective of the sixth proposal, HTR-C, is to integrate all the results of the Project in order to keep them consistent for industrial applications and to evaluate them in terms of market and society needs. In order to achieve a consistent integration, a strong coordination of the whole Project will be provided, with the help of modern telecommunication tools and databases. In order to evaluate the results of the Project, a technico-economic analysis of the competitiveness of HTRs, integrating the latest advances of technology, will be performed. In order to keep the Project at the top level of technology, HTR-C will open the Project to the world advances in the field of HTRs and relevant technologies (through technological survey and cooperation).
