Objective Trypanomosis is a major constraint to livestock productivity in the developing world. The existing control options are not entirely satisfactory and there is little hope for a conventional vaccine. We propose an alternative immunological approach which aims at reducing the pathological consequences of trypanosome infection, through immunisation against parasite cytokine protease (Caps).
