Objetivo The early detection of cancer and the optimisation of treatment is the best way to improve the length and the quality of life of several millions European patients every year. This project is aimed at developing a set of advanced probes that may greatly contribute to achieve this result. For example, the treatment of the lung cancer, that is the first cause of death for tumours in Europe, will benefit an accurate preparatory study of the Non Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) in order to adopt the most suitable therapy. This allows performing more specific, sighted, conservative but oncologically radical interventions. This result can be obtained by applying the "radioimmuno guided surgery that consists in a detection of gamma rays by special probes able to identify several tumours and their potential nodal metastases. Similarly, the treatment of breast cancer - another dramatic pathology affecting European women - benefits the detection of the "sentinel node".
