Objective The Project goal is to perform simulation scenarios for the 21st century, including global warming scenarios, of potential radioactive spreading from sources in the Russian Arctic coastal zone and its impact on Barents, Greenland and Norwegian Seas and the Arctic Ocean. Extensive environmental and pollution data sets will be collected and will provide update for the AMAP database. Datasets will be used for numerical simulations using a Generic Model System, consisting of several nested and integrated models. Simulation studies will be done for the selected "release" scenarios using various atmospheric forcing scenarios for the 21st century, including global warming, likely consistent with a CO2 doubling. The project results will be used for assessment of the impact on potential radioactive spreading from selected sources as input to a radioactive risk management and decision-making system.
