Long-term effects of damage in persons exposed to a radioactively contaminated environment

Objectif

The aim of the proposed multidisciplinary research project is to identify long-term effects of radiation to persons acutely and chronically exposed to a radioactive environment. New fast, sensitive and reliable high-throughput methods (microplateassays) will be introduced and evaluated for the surveillance of people living in territories severely contaminated with radioactive material (due to accidents involving large-scale release of radio-activity; Chernobyl disaster). In addition, the long-term effects of exposure to radio nuclides on the immune system and on the incidence of congenital malformations will be studied.
