A european consortium for participation in the ideal project (EURO-IDEAL)

Ziel

To strengthen and consolidate the position of European science within the IDEAL (International Decade for the East African Lakes) project, we propose the establishment of a consortium (EURO-IDEAL) of European scientists engaged in IDEAL-related research. Results from the IDEAL project are of global significance, particularly in the fields of global change, human impact on the environment, and biodiversity. EURO-IDEAL will provide a forum for contact between European participants in IDEAL and an avenue for the coordination of their present and future activities with those of the North American and African participants in the project. Contact within the consortium will be achieved through a series of workshops, the creation of a EURO-IDEAL website, and exchange visits between individual scientists pursuing related research problems.
