Objective

The e-Court project proposal aims at contributing to the normalisation, standardisation, interoperability and the global convergence among justice Administrations of all European Member States. The solution consists in a creation of shared technological platform aimed at storing and exchanging standard - electronic - based information among the European Justice community. OBJECTIVES
The project has four main objectives as the following:
1) To contribute to trans-national harmonisation in the field of Justice management among the Member States; enabling Justice Institutions belonging to different Countries to share information and co-operate;
2) To secure the citizen rights to access public judicial information by providing an user-friendly and effective tool via a web portal;
3) To provide added-value information (multimedia and multilingual trial documents) to Institutions and experts (prosecutors, judges and lawyers) having different roles within the justice process management and among different Countries;
4) To allow the whole justice Community to retrieve information about public trials, verdicts and any kind of public- domain information about activities in law courts; the access to the judicial information will be disclosed according to role and rights.

Obviously all the above mentioned will be managed according to privacy and security principles. Information about both trials in execution and reserved aspects of the law courts activities are sensible data, therefore they must be subject to safe protection. The authentication of the user accessing the information will be guaranteed by advanced security technologies.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The e-Court project is structured in three main phases: - Analysis and Design;- Implementation;- Test Session. The work will begin with the review of the state-of-the-art within European Justice management systems in order to extract relevant information about the main user requirements and define the functional specifications for the e-Court system: how it has to integrate and improve the judicial processes and which additional services it should provide to the justice community professional users and citizens. The second step foresees the development and the integration of the functional modules, starting from the specifications defined in the previous phase. It concerns also the installation of the e-Court system in the demonstration sites, adapting and customising it according to local needs. In the last phase -conducted at the demonstration sites- the effectiveness of the e-Court solution will be assessed through a structured test session and the system performance, in both qualitative and quantitative terms will be evaluated. In order to ensure a proper support to the dissemination and exploitation of the projects? results, and to make sure that the project evolves according to European policies in the field, a particular effort will be put in liasing with relevant justice concerned actors on the European scenario.
