Objectif Description:The Max Born Institute for Nonlinear Optics and Short Pulse Spectroscopy (MBI) in Berlin, Germany, is a state- and nationally funded large-scale research facility, maintaining a scientific profile with three principal topics:1) Research to advance the state of the art in short-pulse and high-intensity lasers;2) Interdisciplinary applications in basic research and in emerging key technologies;3) Active encouragement of collaborations by offering access to the research facilities ( MBI Application Laboratories).Besides topic (1). occupying about one third of the institute's projects, research concentrates on short-pulse light-matter-interaction at the atomic and molecular level (2). MBI maintains a competitive status with unique research possibilities and instrumentation in each of these topics, but derives its particular strength from their synergetic combination. This speciality is offered to European visitors through active encouragement of collaborative research, and access to specialized instrumentation (3). In particular, MBI operates two dedicated "Application Laboratories", containing advanced femtosecond and high-intensity lasers, and the joint MBI-BESSY II Beam-line, combining advanced short-pulse laser systems with 3rd generation synchrotron radiation in the neighbouring BESSY II facility.Application:Interested researchers are recommended to consult the www-server http://limans3.mbi-berlin.de for complete guidance through the application procedure, or to contact the facility directly under mbi-berlin.de. Applications will be reviewed and selected by an external panel of referees.Project Manager:Joern Kaendler, Max-Born-Institute for Nonlinear Optics and Short-Pulse Spectroscopy(MBI), Max-Born-Strasse 2A, Berlin 12489, GermanyTel: +49-30-63921500Fax: +49-306-3921509E-Mail: kaendler@mbi-berlin.de Champ scientifique natural sciencesphysical sciencesopticsnonlinear opticsnatural sciencesphysical sciencesopticslaser physicsnatural sciencesphysical sciencesopticsspectroscopy Programme(s) FP5-HUMAN POTENTIAL - Programme for research, technological development and demonstration on "Improving the human research potential and the socio-economic knowledge base" (1998-2002) Thème(s) 1.4.1.-2. - Access to Research Infrastructures Appel à propositions Data not available Régime de financement LFC - Access to Research Infrastructures Coordinateur FORSCHUNGSVERBUND BERLIN E.V.
