Objective Micro algae represent a biodiversity of about 40,000 species with a high potential in biochemical resources, valuable though pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and cosmetically applications. Growing process of micro algae (photosynthesis) can also contribute to environment preservation, notably by eliminating carbon dioxide and fixing heavy metals from polluting effluents. ALG-02 project is aiming to develop a photobiorector with high performances level. The major difficulty is to enhance light penetration while the micro algaes concentration is rising within the substrata. Most of the existing technologies have been extrapolated from research's reactors not enough efficient because not designed to perform under industrial constraints. The innovative approach consists in the design of a high volume photo bioreactor for batch processes conducted under specific controlled physical conditions, nowadays never reached for this purpose. These developments are merging various scientific and engineering fields of research and will allow a new industrial concept of micro algaes production plants by improving in large extents economical ratios.
