European network for surveillance of tick borne diseases (TICK-BORNE DISEASES)

Objective

In order to better appreciate the incidence and the possible impact of tick-borne diseases in Europe we propose to set up a Network between references laboratories and medical centres of 5 European countries. The main goal is to construct a database of epidemiological, clinical and laboratory data of patients with a tick borne disease. In parallel will be constructed a tissue bank in order to be able to further investigate the etiological agents of tick-borne diseases. One can imagine that depending on the incidence and medical significance of each of these diseases the network would suggest that one or several of theses diseases would be reportable in Europe.
