Obiettivo Gene expression profiling techniques & detection of molecular events in living cells allowed a first step towards a global & dynamic description of transcriptional regulatory networks. However, in order to exploit the huge datasets & the increasingly complex diagrams resulting from these experiments, a pluralistic approach to modelling & a constant dialogue between in silicon & ex vivo studies is required. We expect new therapeutic strategies to emerge from manipulation &design of regulatory networks involved in multifactorial diseases. This School provides interdisciplinary atmosphere to explore questions such as: What are the dynamic properties of transcriptional regulatory networks? "How is the expression of genes involved in the same physiological process coordinated?" How is a robust behaviour achieved in cells despite the variations of individual components? How do the different levels of regulation intermingle?
