Ninth symposium on neutron dosimetry-advances in nuclear particle dosimetry for radiation protection and medicine

Obiettivo

Eight Neutron Dosimetry Symposia have been organised in Europe. EURADOS considered it timely to initiate the Ninth Symposium, since the eighth one was held in 1995. Delft University of Technology was selected to organise the Ninth Symposium. This symposium will provide an opportunity for considering developments in neutron dosimetry and its application in radiation protection and radiotherapy. The symposium also provides the possibility for presenting new information related to future developments. The programming will include sessions covering various aspects of current research on neutron dosimetry introduced by invited speakers.
It will also allow presentation of recent developments by international bodies such as the ICRU. It aims to bring together those involved in research, health physicists, regulators and representatives of international advisory bodies.
The symposium will provide a forum for considering developments particularly in neutron (and nuclear particle) dosimetry for radiation protection, radiobiology and therapy. This is especially important since the most recent symposium was held in 1995 and interest in neutron dosimetry continued since then, e.g. recently, the ICRU published a Report on determination of dose equivalent quantities for neutrons. Other areas of increasing interest are aircrew and space dosimetry and computational dosimetry. The Symposium will also provide a forum for representatives of regulatory organisations and industry to discuss their needs and for the current work of ICRU and other bodies in this area to be presented and discussed. Invited speakers will give state-of-the-art presentations covering key aspects of current work, and research scientists will present proffered papers and posters. The proceedings will be published in an international scientific journal within one year after the symposium.
