Large-molecule chemistry: desing and properties of nanosized complexes

Objectif

The proposal is aimed at developing new aspects of a fundamental chemistry based understanding of deliberate synthesis of nanosized complexes and extended solids from relatively large molecular cluster building blocks. The project goals are the further development and understanding of cluster chemistry, chemical design features, the application of these to less well studied larger nanosized molecular complexes, and the formation of specific solids from the molecular building blocks generated.

The proposed research project is divided into three main tasks:
T1 Deliberate synthesis of nanosized complexes from molecular cluster building blocks;
T2 Synthesis, structure and properties of cyano-bridged cluster-metal extended solids with large cavities;
T3 Supramolecular assemblies based on cucurbituril adducts. Nanosized products will be fully characterized, their structures determined, and chemical and physical properties thoroughly investigated. As the result of experimental work carried out new fundamental principles for structural and chemical design of nanosized molecular complexes will be identified, and new cluster materials prepared.
