Polymeric donor-acceptor photoconductors for photovoltaic applications

Cel

The main objectives of the project are the design, synthesis and investigation of novel class of polymeric photoconductors with high primary charge separation efficiency. The design and synthesis will be based on combination of polyimides (PIs) as electron donor-acceptor polymers with conjugated polymers and oligomer. The first approach for solving these problems involves the synthesis of PIs containing the conjugated oligomer fragments in their chains. The second one is preparation of polymer-polymer composites of polyimides with conjugated polymers. The poly(p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV) samples with various degrees of conjugation will be synthesised and investigated. By using these and other conjugated polymers and soluble PIs the polymer-polymer composites will be obtained which are expected to display an enhancement of photovoltaic efficiency. Prototype photovoltaic devices will be built for checking the technical performance of the materials developed.
