Objective The general objective of this project is to extend the use of optical emission spectrometry to include all routine determinations of C, N, O and S so that only a single method will be required in the production control analysis of steels. This goal will be approached by a twofold line of action. Firstly, the project will provide some fundamental data relevant for further development of spectrometric equipment. Secondly, by use of today's equipment, spectrometric routine procedures at steel works will be optimised and evaluated to establish state of the art in the field.
