Objectif In the frame of the STAPLERAT project (ICA4-CT2000-30029), research is carried out on "Protecting staple crops in eastern Africa: integrated approaches for ecologically based field rodent pest management". This project combines basic scientific research in rodent biology with the study of new technologies for rodent control. Due to the regional scale, a wide relevance of the obtained results is obvious. Towards the end of the project, in July 2003, an international workshop will be organised in Tanzania, to present the results of this project and link up with similar work elsewhere. This workshop will be integrated with the African Small Mammal Symposium, guaranteeing a wide international interest and attendance. This proposal will financially assist scientists from other developing countries to attend the workshop and allow publication of workshop proceedings.
