Objective The aim is to develop a method to determine the boron content of steels combining the low limits of detection offered by inductively coupled plasma spectrometers (ICP) with a given concentration of the above element in a non-aqueous medium. In this way, it will be possible to cover a range, which will make it possible to analyze levels of boron of below 0.0001% which would represent an advance on existing methods capable of detecting micro-traces of boron in ferrous matrices.
