Objectif Fellows will find a highly qualified scientific environment in the Volkswagen Material Research. They will be employed in an important field of the automotive industry, to integrate new modern construction materials into the car body structure, in order to build extremely light-weight vehicles which allow fuel consumption and CO^2 emissions to be reduced. The research environment does not only include highly qualified tools for theoretical work and for collection of information, but also provides the opportunity to try out and test new findings in practical application and protoping, since they have access to well equipped laboratories and shops. The candidates will be members of multidisciplinary expert teams. Furthermore, Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in German language courses at different levels and in VW management training programmes in order to improve their qualification for a career in industry after completing the project. Because of the close relationship to various universities and research institutes, Fellows can also participate in university courses and joining conferences, broadening their technical knowledge. This guarantees a solid foundation for the supervision of a doctoral thesis.
