Training site in : basic mechanisms of amino acid neurotransmission

Ziel

For the period 2002 - 2005 a limited number (approximately 8) of short term (3 - 12 months) fellowships are available for student who wish to take a PhD in Neuroscience and related fields, and want to do part of the studies at the Marie Curie Training Site in Basic mechanisms of amino acid neurotransmission, Oslo, Norway. We provide training, inter alias, in the following methodologies: Protein purification and analysis, protein-protein interaction, cell and tissue cultures, mamalian transgenic models / molecular genetics, electro physiology, mathematical models, immunocytochemistry including post embedding immunogold quantification, electron microscopy, confocal laser scanning and multiphoton microscopy, flash photolysis, digital imaging, neuroinformatics, computational neuroscience. The fellows will have the opportunity of using the methods for their own projects, but will be encouraged to link onto ongoing research projects at the Training Site. These include studies on embrane proteins transporting amino acids (glutamate, aspartate, glutamine, GABA, glycine, alanine) and potassium channels. The fellowships are available throughout 2002 - 2005. Equal opportunities for female and male students will be actively pursued. The training site is located at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Oslo. The monthly grant is EURO 1200. Enquiries: Dr.J.
