Objetivo The flow conditions in the distributors of continuous slab casters will be investigated and improved from the point of view of the precipitation of impurities. The flow in the distributor will be altered for stationary and dynamic operating conditions in order to optimise the structural and operational parameters from the point of view of cleanness and yield. The flow situation in the distributor will be examined and optimised by means of cold model investigations, in particular for non-stationary operational conditions such as the beginning and the end of casting, and during the changing of ladle and distributor. A check will be made of the flow field in all parts of the distributor from the point of view of delay time and precipitation conditions and improved by various operational measures. These measures will be operationally tested for selected cases. The results will be transferred to and used in other distributors in continuous slab casters.
