Obiettivo After 12% Cr steels have been in service for a long time at elevated temperatures a loss of toughness has been observed, probably as a result of slow grain-boundary segregation of the phosphor. It is planned to use AUGER electron spectrometry to investigate Cr, CrMo and CrMoV steels so as to determine this effect on materials after long-time tests or long periods in service. The kinetics and equilibria of phosphor grain-boundary segregation in 12% CrMoV steel, the influence of phosphor content and alloying elements, the duration of exposure and temperature are to be investigated.
