Alternative EMC testing methods for large machines

Objective

Manufacturers of large machines engage their responsibility to comply with both European EMC and Machine Directives. The evaluation of compliance with the EMC Directive requirements is particularly problematic (in terms of technical and economical feasibility) for medium and large industrial machines due to a number of factors: size, weight, functional complexity. These manufacturers are assuming a responsibility for which they currently do not have the knowledge and the appropriate tools. The objective of this project is to provide new EMC methods and test equipment, more appropriate for cost-effective on site testing of large Machines. Additionally, less expensive and more reliable products can be put on the market. New jobs will be created improving the competitiveness of the large machines industry. The acquired EMC test and assessment know-how will be transferred to European standardization bodies and to the manufacturers involved.
