Obiettivo Hydro gels, i.e. materials containing cross-linked polymer network swollen by water, are of significant importance in various areas of biomedicine and pharmacy. Studies carried out in our group focus mainly on the radiation synthesis and properties of the above-mentioned products with regard to their potential application as wound dressings, drug delivery systems, elements of implants, etc. Recently, the main area of our research concerns stimuli-sensitive macroscopic hydro gels and, especially, a new class of materials so-called nanogels i.e. intramolecularly cross-linked polymer chains. Rapid progress in these fields of material science allows us to include these systems in the list of the "materials of XXI century". We offer the possibility of working in young team of scientists with research profiles including the knowledge of radiation techniques and processing, but also on the chemistry and physicochemistry of polymer solution. Our research resources comprise of irradiation facilities, as well as modem equipment for polymer analysis and characterisation (e. g. static and dynamic light scattering set-up, rheometer, viscometers, gel permeation chromatography equipment, etc.). Young researchers will receive broad training in the field of synthetic, analytic and materials aspects of polymer science and will become acquainted with radiation techniques and polymer material analysis. This goal will be achieved additionally by formal and informal interactions, meetings and presentations. We are looking for the persons with the background in chemistry and polymer/material science preparing their Ph. D. on hydro gels, stimuli-sensitive polymers and their networks, biomedical polymers and/or polymeric nanomaterials.
