Methane monitoring in the european region

Methane monitoring in the european region

Objective

This proposal is to create a European Monitoring Network to measure Atmospheric Methane. The network will unify the present disparate national efforts, to create a valid European contribution to match the present efforts by other nations. The network will provide data for regional modelling of methane in the atmosphere, over Europe and over the major gas field and wetland source areas of Siberia. The work will be closely linked to work of Europe-Europe another projects. Sensitivity studies with regional models will help design accost effective sampling network, that will enable regional quantification of emissions. The work proposed will provide a basis for methane study under the 6th Environmental Action Plan.
