The aim of the research is to undertake a systematic investigation of the mechanism of texture development in sheet to include the effects of carbon (in solution and as a precipitate) and intercritical hot rolling. Mathematical models will be developed to predict texture evolution during recrystallization and grain growth. The work, which will be undertaken jointly by MPI, Düsseldorf and CSM, Rome, will contribute to defining the optimal processing conditions for sheet steel particularly with regard to continuous annealing.
